Lover’s Leap, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica
Catch your breath! Lover’s Leap—the 300-year-old lighthouse and landmark—is about to start rocking a new look on this old (South) coast
bout a 20-minute drive in the direction of Mandeville, and just where the Santa Cruz mountains plunge over 1,700 feet into the ocean, you’ll find Lover’s Leap.
It’s one of the highest-elevation lighthouses in the Caribbean. You come for the breathtaking view, one that looks out over the jagged South Coast and out to miles and miles of sea. Once there, you can take the hour hike down to the sea and we’ll pick you up on a boat and bring you back to Jakes.
In October 2017, Jakes signed an agreement with the Jamaican government to manage Lover’s Leap. Watch this space! In the coming months, we’ll be bringing the fun and the funky to this space. Expect some excitement to start soon.
You can drive—or bike—to Lover’s Leap. The front desk is happy to arrange your travel, whichever way you choose to go.
“I’d suggest a 3-5 hour hike on the cliffs around the headland east of Great Bay. Exhilarating but difficult and dangerous.”
